Tumor Lysis Syndrome (TLS)

  • TLS occurs when a large number of tumor cells are killed in a short period of time and release increased amounts of potassium, phosphate, and nucleic acids into circulation1
  • Patients who present with TLS require frequent electrolyte, creatinine, and uric acid monitoring, ie, every 4-6 hours with appropriate electrolyte replacements and reduction of uric acid1
